This is a stop motion film I made as part of a bigger project. Friend and surfer Rob Kidnie Sup'ed down the Mighty Mekong river in aid of plastic pollution awareness. This film shows him paddling around the Can Tho flaoting market in the Mekong Delta. To watch the full documentary click here

Whilst perusing some videos on vimeo I came across a video that was a little different to the others. Filmed for the Red M-X demo reel with this footage coming from a gopro rigged up to the boom. Slip sliding, head crushing speed and some nice no hands carving.

Following on from the Gopro time lapse tutorial, I will now share a film that had my spine tingling for many minutes after watching. I have now landed in Sydney, Australia for some kite boarding and fun and have bought with me all my camera gear. On arriving I was met by Steve from Kitepower and over a few beers he shared this link with me. Having watched it a dozen times now, it still manages to blow me away and Im sure that you will watch this film over and over. So, thank you Dustin shooting and producing this film and also thank you for sharing with us your tips and tricks in creating this masterpiece. (links are included under the film. So once again sit back and if you can watch it in full HD, do so.

PLEASE WATCH IN HD FULL SCREEN w/SOUND. It is a much better viewing experience. Hopefully you have a 1080P monitor and good connection. If not, bug a friend or colleague that does. It is worth it.

Landscapes: Volume 2 is the second of a three part series (probably). Every frame of this video is a raw still from a Canon 5D2 DSLR and processed with Adobe software. In Volume 2 I again show off my beautiful home state of Arizona and I also made several trips to Utah. This video has some iconic landmarks that we have seen before. I felt that showing them again with motion controlled HDR and/or night timelapse would be a new way to see old landmarks.

Sales Pitch: I would now have to say that my timelapse skill set is very complete. The amount of knowledge I have gained through research, testing, and shooting experience is astounding. From moon phases to high dynamic range to motion control rigs to noise reduction, you would have a tough time finding someone with more overall knowledge of timelapse. If you need help with your next timelapse project you can reach me at             888-444-2739       or DustinF@crewwestinc.com

Most of the motion control for this video was done with the Stage Zero Dolly by Dynamic Perception. Once I got comfortable using the DP dolly I fell in love. I can set up shots now in much shorter times. More importantly for me, it is much smaller and much more portable than my homemade motion control. Without it, shots like the Delicate Arch shot in Utah would be nearly impossible due to the length of the hike. Buy the Stage Zero Dolly if you are looking for quality, inexpensive, easy-to-use motion control.dynamicperception.com/

In addition to the Stage Zero, I also used a three axis motion controlled CamTram. The CamTram is the most versatile dolly I have ever used. Its applications are only limited by your creativity. The CamTram has virtually no weight limit. I was able to achieve shots that dolly-in with the camera just over the ground because of the CamTram's ability to hold heavy counter weights.

Saving the best for last . . . thanks to my wonderful wife Laura. Not only does she put up with and support this crazy passion of mine, she helped out on many of these shots. I think I'll keep her :-)

Show me a person who doesn't like time lapse, this is a short tut on how to set your gopro up to shoot time lapse that can then be edited into a finished film. One day I may actually make some tutorials of my own when I pull my finger out but in the meantime I will hijack and snaffle these vids that I have found helpful while trawling and exploring the diverse and sometimes disturbing interweb.
Watch the film below to learn how to attach your gopro and get great aeriel footage with the help of some colorful balloons and a bit of creativity.

Im gonna get back on track by posting a few shorts featuring gopro cameras and others. We start off our travels in the  island of Malta with a group of guys with huge balloons jumping off high cliffs and continue to the island of Mokulua.
On a different note the rugby world cup is here to entertain us for 6 weeks with guys whos arms are bigger than my waist.......I will be posting a few more tutorials on some simple techniques using both video footage and still frames in the near future, until then feast your eyes on these vids and sit back and watch grown men hug and smash each other with a cold one.......

Once again Im gonna stray from the gopro path to bring you something a little different from the norm. This performance had me watching with both my eyes sticking out on their stalks, never before have I been so captivated for a full 8 mins, even when I discovered my brothers porn mag in his secret hiding place at the age of 10, as I was after clicking the play icon on this video. It is my duty to share this audio /visual masterpiece much like it was the missionaries job to venture into deepest darkest Africa spreading the message of the new messiah, but without the yellow death and malaria.

Sit back, and be astonished by visuals I think I only once had on shrooms in some long forgotton Asian country........

AMON TOBIN | ISAM PERFORMANCE

Projection mapping [the practice of sculpting video content to match the surface geometry it’s being projected on] is not necessarily a new technique, though it’s rapidly increasing in both popularity and complexity among the masses...making it more difficult for companies producing the content to stay competitive in the craft. Leviathan worked with frequent collaborator and renowned VJ Vello Virkhaus on groundbreaking performance visuals for electronic musician Amon Tobin, creating ethereal CG narratives and engineering the geometry maps for an entire stage of stacked cube-like structures. Taking the performance further, the Leviathan team also developed a proprietary projection alignment tool to ensure quick and accurate setup for the show, along with custom Kinect control & visualization utilities for Amon to command. The results for all have been outstanding: after the show debuted, it was featured in such publications as Fast Company and Wired.
